24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Slated for Saturday, May 14

Letter Carriers Will Pick Up Donated Food Items Along The Postal Routes to Restock the Food Bank's Shelves

On Saturday, May 14, members of the National Association of Letter Carriers (N.A.L.C.) all across the country and right here in our community will Stamp Out Hunger by collecting donated food along  their postal routes to restock food banks and pantries in more than 10,000 communities.

Now in its 24th year, Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest one-day food drive and the Food Bank of Northern Indiana’s largest drive each year. This drive helps get us through the summer months when the need is high and food donations are typically low. Our goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of non-perishable food items.

  • Residents of St. Joseph County will receive a Stamp Out Hunger postcard in their mailbox during the week of May 9.
  •  Martin’s Stamp Out Hunger plastic grocery bags will be available at retail counters at the USPS Postal Branches – Brademas (Main), Chippewa, Edison, Olive and Granger.
  • If you’re not going to be home on Saturday, May 14, drop off your donation at any postal branch retail counter or in the orange Food Bank Food Drive barrels located at Kroger Stores and Martin’s Super Markets in St. Joseph County during the week of May 9
  • Please place non-perishable donations in a sturdy bag by your mailbox by 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 14. If it looks like rain, place the donated items in a plastic bag
