Food Bank Seeks Additional Participants for Commodity Supplemental Food Program\ for Seniors in Elkhart Sign-Up on Tuesday, July 30

WHO:              Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Indiana State Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

WHAT:            Commodity Supplemental Food Program for low-income seniors, ages 60 and older.  

Clients must pre-certify and bring a photo ID with proof of age and proof of address, know their household’s annual or monthly income and how many people reside in their household. Clients are certified for 12 months. Clients who wish to designate a proxy to pick up their monthly boxes should appear in person, with the proxy present for the precertification process.

Participation in the program does not prohibit clients from visiting their local food pantry or soup kitchen as they normally would. 

The Food Bank received a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to cover the program costs. 

The Food Bank is looking to add an additional 50 participants in Elkhart.

WHEN:   Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

             Faith Mission, 801 Benham Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46516

If participant qualifies for the program, they will take a monthly box of food home at that time.

Monthly distribution in Elkhart occurs the first Wednesday of the month at Faith Mission, 801 Benham Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46516, from 9 a.m. – Noon.
