Recognizing that not all food-insecure households have access to food pantries in its six-county service area, the Food Bank initiated its Mobile Food Pantry Program in March 2012, supplementing the work of its member agencies, by distributing nutritious food directly to clients.
A typical mobile food pantry offers fresh perishable items, including produce, grains, dairy and proteins. Tables are set up at pre-scheduled locations where people can “shop” and select items that meet their individual needs.
$1 = 9 meals or 11 pounds of food. For every dollar donated, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana can provide 9 meals or 11 pounds of food to its member agencies.
94 cents of every dollar donated goes back into our community.
