Nobody should be forced to choose between food and other crucial     necessities like medication, electricity or childcare. Yet 91,060 neighbors (12.4%) in northern Indiana are food insecure including 31,460 children (17.5%).

Food should not be an impossible choice.

· Visit to learn more about programs benefitting hungry neighbors in Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke and St Joseph Counties.

· ENCOURAGE community leaders and legislators and its 125 partner agencies to learn more about hunger in our communities.


· ORGANIZE a food drive at your workplace, club or place of worship to restock our agency partners shelves or host a fundraiser to benefit the Food Bank. Find out how to schedule your drive at

· Share on social media why you volunteer at the Food Bank and encourage other to fight hunger, too.


· 30 Days of Hunger Heroes—Through out the month of September we will be posting Hunger Heroes on Facebook. Join in the conversation about hunger in northern Indiana and share your own message why food should not be an

     impossible choice.

· ENCOURAGE community leaders and legislators to visit the Food Bank and its partner agencies to learn more about hungry neighbors in their communities.

Every $1 provides up to 5 meals or 8 lbs. of food for someone who struggles with hunger.
