Food Bank Seeks Additional Participants for Commodity Supplemental  Food Program (CSFP) for Seniors in St. Joseph County - Sign-Up Scheduled for Thursday, August 26

WHO:              Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Indiana State Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

WHAT:            Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for low-income seniors, ages 60 and older.  

Clients must pre-certify and bring a photo ID with proof of age and proof of address, know their household’s annual or monthly income, how many people reside in their household and the income for each household member. Clients are certified for 12 months. Clients who wish to designate a proxy to pick up their monthly boxes should appear in person, with the proxy present for the precertification process.

Participation in the program does not prohibit clients from visiting their local food pantry or soup kitchen as they normally would. 

The Food Bank received a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to cover the program costs. 

The Food Bank is looking to add an additional 100 participants in St. Joseph County.

WHEN:           Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, 702 Chapin Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Registration will take place outdoors under the canopy where outdoor food distributions take place. Participants must wear a mask to the sign-up.

If participant qualifies for the program, they will take a monthly box of food home at that time.

Monthly distribution in St. Joseph County take place the first Tuesday of the month at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, 702 Chapin Street, South Bend, IN 46601, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

100% ($44,756) [FY 2021-2022] of total program costs for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) are financed with federal funds. CSFP is an equal opportunity provider.
