Beginning April 1, 2019, the Community Food Pantry will be open on Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Thanks to the generosity of Beacon Health System and its employees, the Food Bank of Northen Indiana will hold a mobile turkey distribution in Marshall County at the Bremen Township Fire Department on Tuesday, November 20.
Frozen turkeys will be distributed; first come, first served while supplies last. One turkey per household, for those in need of food assistance.

On the second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 communities will collect food donations along their postal routes to restock food banks and pantries during Stamp Out Hunger. Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest one-day food drive and the Food Bank of Northern Indiana’s largest drive each year.
The Food Bank’s 2018 goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to restock its shelves for the summer months when the need is high and food drive donations are typically low.

During the 2017-2018 school year, 2,230 children in Elkhart, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke and St. Joseph Counties received a sack of food for weekends and holiday breaks during the school year. Money raised will benefit the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program for the 2018-2019 school year.

Fresh perishable items (dairy, grains, produce and protein) and dry goods are offered free of charge to northern Indiana residents. The Food Bank sets up tables at pre-scheduled locations where people can “shop” and select items that best meet their needs.
Mobile food pantries are first come, first served for those in need of food assistance, based on available product, while supplies last. Patrons are asked to bring bags or boxes to transport their items home.

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is in need of volunteer sweepers to assist letter carriers along their routes on Saturday, May 9, during the 23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Volunteers will assist collecting food donations along all South Bend routes. Volunteers are needed for two shifts - 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Volunteers will work in teams of two and are required to use their own vehicle.
