Michiana Chili Cook-Off Slated for Sunday, October 20

Proceeds to Benefit ACF South Bend Chefs and Cooks Association and Food Bank of Northern Indiana

WHO:             Presented by the American Culinary Federation South Bend Chefs and Cooks Association. Hosted by Martin’s Super Markets.

WHAT:           21st Annual Michiana Chili Cook-Off.

A variety of local restaurants and organizations will offer sample size portions of their “winning” chili and compete for the coveted 2019 Michiana Chili Cook-Off traveling Trophy.  Past chili cook-offs have included squash, white, vegetarian, beef, pork and chicken chilis with just about every kind of bean or no beans at all!  The chilis are sometimes accompanied by a garnish of cornbread, ciabatta bread, fresh chips and a variety of toppings.

All you can sample chili from some of our 2019 confirmed participants include:

  • Bistro 933 
  • Four Wind’s Food Truck
  • Ivy Tech Culinary Program
  • Levy at Notre Dame
  • Martin’s School of Cooking
  • Martins Super Market Food Truck
  • Real Services Food Truck
  • Three Pigs Pork Co
  • Tippecanoe Place Restaurant
  • Weiss Gasthaus

Local celebrity judging and YOUR VOTE, the popular vote, will take place with first, second and third place winners announced beginning at 3:30 p.m. Trophies will also be given out for best decorated booth. 

In addition:

  • Live music provided by Ground Control
  • Oktoberfest Beer Tent, sponsored by Weiss Gasthaus, will be available for 11– 4 p.m. for ages 21 and over with ID. Beer for purchase in tent.
  • Caramel Apple Booth (donation only).
  • Beverages sold by Martin’s School of Cooking.
  • Corn Hole
  • Face Painting
  • Kids Fall Craft
  • New this year – enter a drawing $2/ticket for chance to win a gift certificate for local restaurants.

Tickets: $10/adult at the door – all you can sample chili and one voting ticket; $5/child ages 3-8; children under 2 are free.

WHEN:          Sunday, October 20, 2019, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Rain or Shine.

WHERE:        Martin’s Super Market, Heritage Square Drive, Granger, Ind.

The American Culinary Federation South Bend Chefs and Cooks Association is dedicated to promoting the professional image of cooks and chefs through education among culinarians at all levels – from apprentice to master.  A non-profit organization, the American Culinary Federation’s mission is to make a positive difference for culinarians through education, apprenticeship and certification, while creating a fraternal bod of respect and integrity among culinarians everywhere.

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana works in partnership with the community to feed the hungry, increase awareness of the effects of hunger and lead programs designed to alleviate hunger.  The Food Bank of Northern Indiana serves Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke and St. Joseph Counties and is a member of Feeding America, Feeding Indiana’s Hungry (FIsH) and United Way.
